Lee
Lee Roy Selmon has a history that combines family scholarship football and community service. The first is his family. Lucious Selmon was the father of Jessie Selmon. The family raised nine kids on an Eufala farm. Also, he was one of three brothers who played for Oklahoma in football. The three brothers were all All-Americans. Lucious Jr. Dewey & Lee Roy started for one season in 1973. Lee Roy won the Outland and Lombardi Awards as the nation's most effective lineman. Over the course of three seasons, Oklahoma was 32-1-1 with Roy serving as their starting line-up. Also, they won the national title twice. Selmon was honored when the National Football Foundation named him as a Scholar-Athlete three times time in the year 1975. Selmon is a graduate of the University of Michigan with a degree in educational studies. Lee Roy's fourth service consisted of ten hours a week in volunteer work during the college. In Tampa the Buccaneers, he was a player for the Buccaneers for nine seasons before becoming an all-pro. Additionally, he started a career in business. The year 1988 was the first time he began working as an Account Relation Officer for First Florida Bank in Tampa. He was employed by the Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute as well as the Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. There was no doubt that, in 1982, the Junior Chamber of Commerce named Lee Roy as one of the 10 young stars across the nation. Lee Roy was 6'2" tall and weighed 265lbs in the time he played football at college. The year 1975 was the first time he was the captain of the squad. In 1993, he became the athletic director's assistant at University of South Florida. He was elected to the College Football Hall of Fame in 1988. He was also named to the GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame in 1994 and the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1995. In 1989, the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation gave its Distinguished American Award Mr. Lucious Sr. Henry Bellmon was the Oklahoma Governor that presented the award.
