Arianna Huffington

Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington, a Greek American businesswoman and syndicated journalist, is also an author. She is a co-founder of The Huffington Post the founder and CEO of Thrive Global and the author of fifteen books. Arianna Huffington, an independently-owned Liberal news site is a popular TV show host as well as a writer and charity donor. Her birthplace was Greece she came to England when she was 16 and then graduated at the age of 16 from Cambridge University with an MA in Economics. When she was 21, she was president of the famous debating club The Cambridge Union' and was the first foreign born student to hold this title. Following graduation, she left her impression as an independent syndicated columnist, and with the launch of The Huffington Post' few months later, she created an online platform for voice that included critical comments on the political scenario. Her status as a celebrity helped in bringing on a host of well-known contributors to share their opinions about news from the world of politics and culture. Arianna got noticed after she decided in 2003 to candidly run as an independent candidate for the California Recall Election to replace Governor Davis. Apart from this she also managed a Detroit project to promote vehicles that are fuel efficient. In 2009, she was ranked by Forbes as one of the most influential women in media gaining 12th spot on the list. The same year Guardian named her to the top 100 of the media lists. AOL Inc. acquired The Huffington Post, and she became president of the group of media. This included many AOL products at the time like Engadget AOL style list and Patch Media. Parents were Elli and Konstantinos Stasinopoulos. They were a management consultant and journalist. They were very close to her father. But it is her bond with her mother who shaped her. From her childhood she demonstrated the leadership abilities for which she has become well known. At 16 years of age she relocating to the United Kingdom to pursue her studies and enrolled in Girton College Cambridge. She was a member of in the Cambridge Union college debate society during her time at college in which she became the third female who was elected the president. In 1972 she graduated with her master's degree in Economics. After graduation, she began working as a critic for a newspaper column and hosting a show on TV. Additionally, she was a guest along with Bernard Levin in an episode of Face the music and started making books with his editorial assistance.
